The Climate Realists have confirmed that Lord Monckton has agreed to come here following his Australian tour. Donations have been received to cover his expenses.
There are some engagement details on the CR web site with more to be confirmed.

Bishop Hill has posted a video of a debate between LM and economist Richard Dennis.
Filmed at the National Press Club

Having initially dismissed watching this video because of its length, I found myself happily un-engaged this evening and in a position to watch it. In light of Lord Monckton’s visit to our fair shores, I exhort readers of this blog to invest the time. Monckton is debating an astute and entrenched warmist economist who adheres to consensus, authority and precautionary principles. Monckton on the other hand derides consensus and authority and demolishes the precautionary “insurance” notion. He portrays a heartfelt concern for grassroots Aussies (coalminers in particular) and displays a very current knowledge of Aussie politics.
So, thanks Andy for the link. A better resolution video is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ma6cnPLcrtA
I, too, watched the Press Club debate yesterday evening and was prepared for utter boredom but thoroughly enjoyed watching and listening to a master of debate in action. I know Lord Monckton plays the irritating upper-class twit to the limit and I wondered if he would generate something of the Bash-a-Pom complex that seems to lurk in most antipodean psyches, including mine, but the audience seemed to warm to him genuinely and to become quite disparaging of Dr Denniss’s quite simplistic and irrelevant analogies about treating skin cancer and the Australian submarine naval fleet. The good doctor, who appeared to play the role of the unpolished Aussie Bloke a bit too keenly, went on at length about the various Australian forms of taxing CO2 output without managing to give any convincing display of scientific understanding. His final statement about ‘carbon pollution was an absolute and mindless gaffe, which Lord Monckton capitalised on.
The youthful members of the press corps betrayed a general tendency to smirk knowingly at Lord Monckton before he lined each of his questioners up for evisceration, all done with charm and good humour, of course, except for the young lady who challenged his publishing record and, I suspect, shortly wished she had kept her head down. The lord showed a flash of steel with her, as he did with the young man who questioned his title, a topic that had been vetoed by agreement before the debate.
If Dr Denniss is the best and most knowledgable speaker the Australian alarmists can muster, they are lost before they go to the polls to ratify their tax against ‘carbon pollution’.

wow, Lord Monckton will come to NZ? the belly of the “we cause global warming” sheep of NZ? … AWESOME….. I hope, but doubt, NZ lamestream press will cover this… The NZ herald, as we all know, follows the far leftist and UN tripe which is the AGW religion…
I hope the logic, wit and truth of Monckton’s words can reach the ears of many in NZ
OK I’ll pray for it, too
Yes, I hope many people hear him, too.
I have actually exchanged a couple of emails with Lord M. I did so after discovering that we are both graduates of Churchill College Cambridge (he was before my time. He studied Classics, myself Mathematics)
He was very gracious in his email responses (he did actually respond, which is often unusual these days with “public figures”).
I don’t consider myself a “fan”, nor would I expect him to think that anyone else should think so either. He often says “go and find out for yourself”.
I couldn’t offer better advice, really.
Do you know the dates, times and places where Lord Monckton will be speaking in N.Z.? I agree with his thinking and would very much like to hear him speak. All the best with your good work.
Veronica, Southland, N.Z.
Hi Veronica,
They’ve just been confirmed at Climate Realists. Thanks for your good wishes.
Excellent. I see Kennedy Graham (Green Party) has put himself forward to debate Christopher Monckton for the Auckland spot at PRINZ
I suspect this might be an entertaining evening.
Graham has pulled out, leaving Monckton to chat with another denier as he can find no one else to legitimise him.
[ad hom removed], let alone what the climate is doing.

I think a better question is why don’t the people who believe in CAGW want to debate the issues? What the climate is doing? Bob, the climate is chaotic! Nobody knows what it’s doing. If you disagree, then, just for starters, you might like to explain to us why the climate has failed to warm for about 15 years, when the models told us to expect it.
Because as you well know, the vast majority of scientists agree that the climate has in fact warmed and the cause is man made. The debate needed now is about how humanity can best respond to save untold suffering. That’s why Monckton can find no one to talk to.
Yes, many scientists agree that we’re warming the climate, but I don’t agree with them, nor do I agree they are the vast majority. Why don’t I agree with them? Because the simple fact is that the climate has not warmed much. The single most significant metric when discussing global warming is the temperature of the globe and since about 1995 there has been no significant warming. Did you know that? Don’t take my word for that, see the facts for yourself at Junk Science. These are from satellite observations. For at least 13 years the linear trend has been slight cooling. Why shouldn’t this be brought to the attention of the scientists? Why is it denial? What does it deny?
