At The Daily Blog two weeks ago Renowden complained (emphasis mine):
What we object to, Andy, is not the obvious behaviour of the surface temperature record, but your continued conflation of temperature with warming. Stop claiming that “warming has stopped”, and we can move on to talk about ice melt, rapid Arctic warming, and the impact on northern hemisphere weather patterns instead of indulging in silly semantics.
At last! How wonderful. For years we’ve been saying it’s not warming — the readings aren’t going up! Can’t you see that? We suffered these stupid explanations that there’s no stasis, we still have warming, in fact (some said) warming has accelerated.
But the stupidity was how apologists for warming talked about the high temperatures since 2000. During the 1990s, temperatures rose to a peak until a stasis developed about 2001 and continues.
We heard repeatedly that “temperatures have been rising for a couple of decades” and “temperatures this century are the highest/2nd highest/3rd highest… in 100/200/500/1000 years.”
The implication was that temperatures were still rising. But it was only an implication, not a reality. Sure, the temperatures were high, but you would expect that after a peak, wouldn’t you? As they went down, the high temperatures approaching the peak would be repeated. Obvious!
The truth was that temperatures were coming down. Slowly, for sure, but they weren’t rising. Average temperatures in some years were declared to be even higher than the 1990s. But when you investigated, they were higher only by a few thousandths of a degree. Never mind, that didn’t stop record temperatures being claimed as though they meant something.
Anyway, I seemed to say endlessly that, though the temperatures were high, they were not rising and no warming should be claimed. Now, finally, we hear an apologist for warming complain to one of the sceptics that “temperature is not [the same as] warming.”
Hallelujah.
Warming has not proceeded, globally, as predicted by climate models 30 years ago. Even the latest models fail to echo real temperatures from the recent past. For example, Roy Spencer provides this perspective:
So we might conclude that perhaps reason is returning amongst our warmist friends. I can imagine it causing them some discomfort.

Not really relevant to this post, but Iain Dale (UK blogger) writes of the intolerance of the climate change zealots

An also on the topic of bloggers, UK’s Autonomous Mind has a good dig at Ed Davey and his little tirade against sceptics

Long List Of Warmist Scientists Say Global Warming Has Stopped…Ed Davey Is Clueless About What’s Going On

I count only 3 of the 44 mimicing the lower atmosphere even vaguely. I suspect the red simulation is RAS INM-CM4 given that the same model’s trajectory is much the same at near-surface.
The ensemble average (the projection part – not the hindcast part) represents unrealistic input assumptions i.e. garbage in, garbage out (GIGO). Those assumptions being primarily, a) anthropogenic forcing being predominant, and b) natural cyclicity not a consideration.
>”……your continued conflation of temperature with warming”
It just gets better and better.
By the way, Martyn “Bomber” Bradbury has just admitted that he has done paid pieces for Mana and Greenpeace, so hardly an impartial blogger (if there is such a thing)
The Mana contribution comes out of taxpayers money, though.
I should point out that The Daily Blog is Martyn’s brainchild, in case you are wondering what the relevance of this is. Martyn is the guy who referred to our host as
and meanwhile our Gareth reports from the NZ climate change conference thus:
Yes, the sceptic sideshow, crazy as bat shit, denying the science, as always……
And now over to Ed Davey, the UK’s energy bully
Looks like Davey has said his piece and Dellers has the response
http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/jamesdelingpole/100220113/ed-davey-makes-the-silliest-speech-ever/
Note how Dave The Cretin Davey refers to the periods of the early 20th century in his address, long before the Met Office, who he praises in his speech, attributed any climate change to humans
How did these idiots come to govern countries ?
