Government forecasters are apparently from a different planet. They think warm, sunny weather is cause for alarm.

The official statement begins: “First taste of very warm, mid summer weather today.” Donna cites Judith Curry, who describes nicely how global warming has morphed into “a grand narrative in which human-caused climate change has become a dominant cause of societal problems” and suggests the topic of climate change is making us stupid.
I fear lest such decayed thinking reaches New Zealand, or that it’s already here.

During a period working in the UK, I very nearly choked on my early morning cuppa when The BBC weather presenter on radio forecast a long spell of Summery weather including clear skies and lots of sunshine, then ended his forecast with “If you like that kind of thing!”
Dear Climate Agony Aunt
Last week I was cross country skiing in Norway and the temperature hit an unseasonable low of -15 Celcius.
Now I am in NZ and the temps are an unseasonable +23 Celcius.
This means I have experienced almost 40 degrees of temperature difference in the course of 7 days. This is “worse than we thought”
Should I be worried or perhaps guilty of my international travel profligacy?
Andy,
As long as you feel guilty, nothing much can go wrong; the rest of us feel fine. Please bear in mind that the main reason for the difference in temperatures you describe so well is your profligate use of air travel. Any use at all, even one, is known as profligate unless you belong to the IPCC, because, as you know, travelling in a heavier-than-air craft is against the natural law and causes globular warping (I think I have that correctly). Therefore you must now construct wind turbines on your property to compensate. But thank you for confessing. We all feel better now.
The alarmists connecting the dots again.

The mummies have done pretty well buried in the sand for 5000 years surviving periods a lot warmer than today. The climate change they have suffered is taking them out of the sand and putting them in a museum. Clearly the “climate” in the museum is not the same as it was in the sand.
Hemi,
In my experience, alarmists ALWAYS connect the wrong dots, and as my Dad would have said, don’t know how many beans make five.
‘Watch Now: The Uncomfortable Pause; EDF climate expert explains lack of global warming’
Written by Marc Morano, Climate Depot on 19 May 2015.
Interviewed on the Catholic network, EWTN, Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) climate expert Carol Andress is asked about the 18 year ‘pause in global warming’ by host Raymond Arroyo.
Arroyo: ‘Carol, some groups say the 2013 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, that they failed to recognize this pause in global warming. Is that an issue? Do they have a point? There’s been this sort of 18 year pause where, you don’t, it’s not warming up?’ (See: Global warming ‘pause’ expands to ‘new record length’: No warming for 18 years 5 months)
Andress: ‘I can’t speak to that, I, the, yeh, uhh…’
Arroyo: ‘You can’t speak to that?’
Andress: ‘I can’t speak to that particular IPCC, uh…’
Arroyo: ‘Anomoly?’
Andress: ‘…anomoly. Uh, the, I mean the fact is, you know, eh, the, uh, this is pretty basic physics, uh, what were talking about in terms of the gasses, uh, and the effect that they have on trapping heat, uh, the, eh, uh, it’s, an we, you know, the fact is, it’s common sense that if we’re going to be throwing at, be, if we’re going to be burning, eh, and putting unlimited pollution into the air, that eventually it’s going to have an impact.’

yeh, uhh…
Oh, man! Of course, it’s “anomaly”, but if she can’t speak to it, it probably won’t speak back. What a twit.
